SUPERSTITION MOUNTAIN, Ariz. – No. 2 Oklahoma State women's golf finished the day three strokes off the lead after the opening 18-holes of the Rapsodo in the Desert on Sunday with a round of 281 at the Superstition Mountain Golf Course.
Â
Oklahoma State finished 7-under at the par 72, 6,498-yard layout.
Â
"It was great to get back to competition after almost three months off," head coach Greg Robertson said. "The team played solid, and it was great to see them make quite a few birdies out there today. We just need to clean up a few mistakes. We're looking forward to a competitive final round against some great teams."
Â
After the opening 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament, eight strokes separated the top-three teams as Arizona State will head into the second and final day leading the field at 10-under. Â
Â
For OSU, Maddison Hinson-Tolchard notched a strong opening performance of the spring portion of the schedule with a round of 67 to end the day 5-under and in second place overall in the individual standings.
Â
Three Cowgirls finished the day in the top-10 of the individual standings as Isabella Fierro and Clemence Martin closed the round tied for 10th. Both notched rounds of 71 to end the day 1-under.
Â
Hailey Jones and Caley McGinty both ended the day at even par and tied for 18th place.
Â
Competing as an individual, Lianna Bailey carded a 73 and ended the day tied for 22nd. She recorded an eagle on the seventh hole, one of just three on the day.
Â
Oklahoma State returns to action at 10:00 a.m. CT on Monday in Arizona with the final two rounds of the opening tournament of the spring. Score updates will be provided on golfstat.com and the team's social media as they become available.
