Cowboy Tennis Drops Hard-Fought Match to No. 5 Baylor

Stillwater, Okla. - The 18th-ranked Oklahoma State men's tennis team battled down-to-the-wire against No.5 Baylor on Thursday evening before eventually coming up short, 4-2, in its conference opener at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Cowboys dipped to 7-7 on the year and 0-1 in Big 12 play.
Baylor got started early, securing the doubles point.
Court two was the first to finish with OSU's Emile Hudd and Dominik Kellovsky falling to Nick Stachowiak and Matias Soto, 6-1. The Bears carried the momentum to court one as No. 24 Matej Vocel and Henrik Korsgaard lost No. 18 Constantin Frantzen and Sven Lah, 6-3. With the point decided, court three was left unfinished with Mathieu Scaglia and Etienne Donnet deadlocked with Baylor's Charlie Broom and Finn Bass, 4-4.
In singles action, court six was the first to finish in favor of Baylor's second point of the match. Cowboy Etienne Donnet fell in straight sets to Spencer Furman, 6-2, 6-3.
However, Mathieu Scaglia answered for OSU. Scaglia was the first Cowboy to claim victory, cruising to a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Nick Stachowiak.
On court five, Dominik Kellovksy zipped to a first-set victory, 6-2. Baylor's Charlie Broom stormed back in the second set, 6-3, to tie it up before taking the third set, 6-4, for point No. 3 for the Bears.
The outcome of the match came down to the upperclassmen on courts one, two and three.
Henrik Korsgaard got the work done on court three. Korsgaard dropped his first set on court three, 6-4, to Sven Lah, but he didn't stop there. Korsgaard pushed back with a 6-3 victory in the second set and finished off OSU's second point in the third set, 6-4.
Matej Vocel took the momentum on court one, securing a 7-6(3) victory in the first set to take the upper hand, but Baylor's Adrian Oetzbach answered back in the second, 6-3. Vocel made Oetzbach work for a 7-5 win in the third en route to the deciding point.
No. 107 Emile Hudd was slated against No. 9 Matias Soto on court two and went unfinished when the match was decided. Soto took the first set 7-6(5) but Hudd answered with a 7-6(5) rally in the second set. The third set ended with Hudd up 1-0.
The Cowboys are back home on Saturday to play host to No. 21 Texas Tech.
