Cowgirl Duo And Babic Wrap Up Play In Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Ayumi Miyamoto, Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and volunteer assistant Vladica Babic fell in their respective matches in the Lawrence $15K Pro Circuit on Saturday.

Miyamoto and Thamchaiwat paired up and advanced to the doubles finals to face off against Malkia Menguene and Maria Torian Ribes. Miyamoto and Thamchaiwat pushed the match to three sets but came up just short: 4-6, 6-2, 10-6. The Cowgirls defeated the first-seeded doubles team in the tournament to advance to the finals.

Babic was one win away from the singles finals but lost in the semifinal match to Anastasia Nefedova. Nefedova, the second seed, defeated Babic in straight sets: 6-2, 6-3.

Overall, four current Cowgirls competed in the main draw of the tournament. Ayumi Miyamoto, Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and Dariya Detkovskaya were accepted to the main draw prior to the tournament. Lisa-Marie Rioux played her way in by winning two straight matches in the qualifying draw.
