Grad Transfer Laurent Signs With Cowboy Basketball

STILLWATER – Cowboy basketball coach Mike Boynton added a veteran presence to Oklahoma State's top-20 recruiting class with the signing of the graduate transfer Jonathan Laurent, the A-10 Conference's top 3-point shooter in 2018-19.
Laurent (6-6, 215, G/F, Orlando, Fla., UMass) averaged 9.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game as a redshirt junior last season at UMass, including a 46.7 percent (35-of-75) clip from 3-point - tops in the A-10. He is expected to be immediately eligible and will have one year to play for the Cowboys.
The Orlando native posted 16 doubled-digit scoring performances last year, including a season-high 24 points against St. Joseph's. Laurent shot 53.7 percent from the floor overall and 85.7 percent from the stripe.
Laurent spent his first two seasons with Rutgers, and averaged 5.4 points and 3.7 rebounds per game in 58 appearances during his career in Piscataway, New Jersey. He started 23 games for the Scarlet Knights, including averages of 8.1 points and 5.1 rebounds as a freshman in 2015-16.
A former Florida Association of Basketball Class 8A All-State honoree, Laurent was named the No. 25 prospect in the state of Florida after averaging 16.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game as a senior at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Florida. He poured in 19.0 points and 9.0 rebounds as a junior and earned all-area and all-metro honors from the Orlando Sentinel in each of his last two seasons.
Laurent joins a Cowboy recruiting class that includes Chris Harris, Marcus Watson, Avery Anderson III, Keylan Boone and Kalib Boone. Prior to Laurent's signing, the class was ranked No. 14 nationally by Scout and No. 20 by 247Sports and Rivals.
