GOLD COAST, Queensland — Former Oklahoma State All-American thrower Nick Miller crushed the Commonwealth Games record in the men's hammer throw with his gold medal-winning launch of 80.26m/263-4 on Sunday, earning the British record in the process.

Miller's throw also stands as the best mark in the world in the event so far in 2018.

"From when I first met Nick, he had big dreams and goals," head coach Dave Smith said. "These are the kind of things he was talking about. I'm really excited for him, but he's still young and there's more to come."

While at OSU, Miller earned seven All-America honors for the Cowboys, with four coming from the hammer throw. Miller also took home a national title in 2016 on his final attempt with a mark of 73.98m/242-8.

Arguably the best Cowboy thrower in school history, Miller's efforts earned him seven Big 12 titles, standing at the top of the podium in the hammer throw in all four of his outdoor seasons at Oklahoma State.

A native of Carlisle, United Kingdom, Miller still holds the school record in the hammer throw, set while earning gold at the Big 12 Championships in 2016.
