CHARLOTTE, N.C.—The Oklahoma State men's basketball opened its season with a loss to Charlotte, 66-64, on Saturday.
Cameron McGriff led the way for the Cowboys, scoring 17 points and collecting six rebounds. The junior went 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.
Oklahoma State gave up a 32-10 run in the final nine minutes of play. Charlotte's Jon Davis banked in a game-winning 3-pointer with .6 seconds remaining to defeat OSU. He led the game in scoring with 27 points.
The Cowboys grabbed the lead midway through the first half when they went on a 25-2 run, which started at the 8:47 mark of the first half and lasted until there was 1:56 remaining in the opening half of play.
Thomas Dziagwa sparked the lengthy run with three of his four made first-half 3-pointers. Dziagwa is now 9-for-14 from behind the 3-point line in his career against Charlotte.
Isaac Likekele started in his first official game as a Cowboy and scored 13 points. Kentrevious Jones, Yor Anei, Maurice Calloo, Duncan Demuth and Luke Major also made their first career appearances in an official game at Oklahoma State.
The Cowboys return to Stillwater for their home opener against UTSA at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Tickets can be bought at okstate.com/tickets.
