Oklahoma City, Okla. ---- Oklahoma State softball pressured No. 6 Oklahoma but ultimately fell short in the Big 12 Championship game 2-0 Saturday at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.

The Cowgirls loaded the bases with one out in the top of the first but facing one of the best pitchers in the nation in Paige Parker, finished the inning scoreless as the Sooners dodged the scoring threat.

Oklahoma (50-8) scored the game's only two runs in the bottom of the fifth with a one out, two-run home run to secure the victory.

"It's obviously not the way we wanted this one to end," head coach Kenny Gajewski said. "I think the most important thing for us is getting in more of the meaningful games at the end. This should give us a little bit of boost for postseason but it hurts. It's hard to think about that right now."

Oklahoma State (35-23) looked poised for a scoring effort in the first when Vanessa Shippy, Madi Sue Montgomery and Kristin Reasnor reached base to load the bases with one out but the Cowgirls ultimately were held scoreless.

Senior pitcher Brandi Needham (19-9) once again pitched well in the losing effort, allowing just four hits in her six innings of work.

Alex Edinger led the way at the plate for the Cowgirls going 2-for-3.

For their efforts in the tournament, Needham, Taylor Lynch and Maddi Holcomb were named to the All-Tournament Team.
