Cowgirl Drop One To Missouri State
March 16, 2017 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER, Okla. ---- Oklahoma State Softball's three-game winning streak was snapped Thursday night with a 7-3 loss to Missouri State at Cowgirl Stadium. The Bears scored four runs in the top of the six to clinch the 7-3 victory.Â
The loss was just the third in the last 14 games for the Cowgirls and only the second at Cowgirl Stadium this season.Â
"We didn't play well at all. It was easy to see," head coach Kenny Gajewski said. Â "Defense wasn't very good at all. We didn't help out Shea. I didn't think she was as sharp as she's been, but the sign of good teams is even when your pitcher doesn't have her stuff you can still win. I thought that she still gave us a chance to still win. We just didn't get it done. Credit them, they put the ball in play and played hard."
Oklahoma State (19-11) fell behind early as the Bears scored two runs in the top of the first. OSU cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI double by Kristin Reasnor. Reasnor's double to left scored Vanessa Shippy and made it 2-1 Missouri State after one.Â
Missouri State got on the board again in the top of the second on an error at the plate to extend its lead to 3-1.Â
The Cowgirls responded with another run in the bottom of the second with a Rylee Bayless single to score Mackenzie Thomas and cut the Missouri State lead to 3-2. OSU later tied the game in the bottom of the third ?at 3-3 with Shippy's solo home run.Â
Bayless led the way at the plate going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Shippy went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.Â
