Cowgirls In Fourth At Bruin Wave

TARZANA, Calif. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team posted a 15-over total of 591 during the first day of action at the Bruin Wave Invitational on Monday at El Caballero Country Club.
The Cowgirls opened with a 294 during their morning round before following with a 297 during round two at the par-72, 6,173-yard layout. Southern California posted the only 36-hole score below par, finishing at 3-under 573 and five shots clear of the field.
USC's Doris Chen posted a 139 total with scores of 72 and 67 to grab the individual lead.
OSU's Julie Yang came in a stroke back at 140 after firing rounds of 69 and 71. The sophomore got to her 3-under opening round with an outward nine that featured two bogeys and seven pars. After her lone bogey at the 14th, Yang carded birdies at the 15th and 16th for an inward nine of 1-under 35.
Yang's second round included a birdie at the opening hole. She offset three consecutive bogeys on Nos. 9, 10, 11 with three-straight birdies on the next three holes.
Senior Jayde Panos finished the day tied for 12th at 146 with rounds of 70 and 76.
Classmate Lauren Falley came in tied for 37th place at 154 with scores of 75 and 79.
Freshman Isabella Deilert and senior Amy Ruengmateekhun each finished at 156 and tied for 45th place. Deilert signed for scores of 82 and 74, while Ruengmateekhun carded scores of 80 and 76.
The Cowgirls will close out the event tomorrow at 8:20 a.m. (PST) and will be grouped with Arizona and Washington.
