Cowboy Tennis Sweeps Season-Opening Doubleheader

STILLWATER, Okla. -
Oklahoma State's men's tennis team opened its 2014 campaign with a bang on Friday by sweeping both Southern Illinois and South Dakota State.
The Cowboys' debut at the Greenwood Tennis Center proved to be successful from the start, as the Cowboys dominated both the doubles point and singles play in the day's first matchup with SIU.
Senior Brady Bohrnstedt and newcomer Arjun Kadhe were the first to collect a victory in OSU's newest athletic facility after defeating SIU's duo of Cavero/Opieczonek, 6-2. Matt Campbell and Lucas Gerch rounded out the doubles point for the Cowboys with a 6-2 victory of their own to give the Cowboys an early 1-0 lead.
In singles play, two new Cowboys opened up their collegiate careers with a victory, including Nicolai Olsen and Arjun Kadhe. Chris Haworth completed the sweep at the No. 6 spot in a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Rafael Cuadrillero, giving the team a win in its first appearance of 2014.
In the second leg of the doubleheader, OSU (2-0) repeated its earlier performance with another 4-0 victory. Vasili Caripi and Jakob Sude earned their first wins of the season in their respective doubles matches, while Lucas Gerch collected his first individual victory of the year in a 6-1, 6-2 straight-sets sweep at No. 2 singles.
After a day off tomorrow, the Cowboys will welcome their first ranked opponent of the year in No. 34 Minnesota for an 11 a.m. matchup on Sunday. For updates and information, follow @CowboyTennis on Twitter.
