Cowgirls Surge To Lead In Dallas

DALLAS - Oklahoma State's women's golf team posted a 295 during its second round on Saturday at the SMU Dallas Athletic Club Invitational to vault itself from a tie for sixth into first place at Dallas Athletic Club.
The Cowgirls entered the day 11 shots off the lead, but used their 7-over team score to move into first. The round, which was the best of the day by 12 strokes, gave OSU a 24-over total of 600 and a four-shot lead at the par-72, 6,301-yard layout.
Freshman Julie Yang followed an opening 70 with a 68 to move from a tie for second into the top spot on the individual leaderboard. The Cowgirl rookie will take a 6-under 138 total and an eight-shot lead into tomorrow's closing round.
Yang started her day with a pair of pars before making her lone bogey of the day at the par-5 third. However, she quickly answered with back-to-back birdies on her next two holes and turned at 1-under 35. Her inward nine included birdies at the 13th, 14th and 17th against zero bogeys en route to her 4-under score.
Senior Kelsey Vines maintained her spot in the top 10, posting a 77 to stand at 150 and tied for seventh place.
Junior Jayde Panos bounced back from an opening 80 with a 73 to move into a tie for 17th place at 153.
Junior Josephine Janson's 77 tied her for 37th place at 159, while sophomore Courtney Ferguson posted an 82 to stand at 166 and tied for 61st.
Competing individually, junior Lauren Falley's 83 tied her for 41st place at 161.
The Cowgirls will begin their final round at 8:30 a.m. (CST) and will be grouped with Denver and Oklahoma.
