Cowboy Tennis Splits Doubleheader in Florida

Oklahoma State's men's tennis team split its two matches in Florida on Saturday, defeating Florida Atlantic 4-2 but falling to Florida Gulf Coast 4-3 at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
OSU (6-3) extended its winning streak to five after its victory over FAU behind solid doubles play and individual victories from Denys Pume, Matt Campbell and Brady Bohrnstedt.
The duos of Biktyakov/Campbell and Haworth/Bohrnstedt earned the match's doubles point for the Cowboys, giving the squad an early lead. FAU fought back to tie the score at two in singles play, but Pume's 6-3, 6-7, 7-5 win over Will Neuner clinched the match for Oklahoma State.
The Cowboys brought their longest winning streak since 2009 into their match with FGCU, but came up just short in the 4-3 thriller.
Biktyakov and Campbell recorded their second victory of the day, while Pume and Del Nunzio ran their doubles record to 5-0 in the team's doubles sweep over the Eagles.
Singles victories from Bohrnstedt and Arovin fired the Cowboys into a 3-2 lead, but Biktyakov fell in his first match back from an injury to even the match for FGCU.
With the overall score tied at three, Haworth fought back from a 5-4 deficit after losing the first set to tie the match and send it into a decisive third set. The sophomore fought out to a 3-3 score, but lost the last three games in the Eagles' clinching victory.
The Cowboys will look to get back on the winning track on Thursday when they travel to San Diego to face UNLV.
