Cowgirls In 10th In California

HALF MOON BAY, Calif. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team posted a 36-hole total of 596 on Monday at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate to stand alone in 10th place at Half Moon Bay Golf Links.
The Cowgirls opened with a 296 before posting a 300 during the afternoon round. Their 20-over score put them four shots behind Oregon for ninth place at the par-72, 6,028-yard layout. UCLA pulled away from the field with a 563 total that gave the Bruins a 14-shot cushion over the field.
UCLA's Erynne Lee built a five-shot lead with back-to-back 68s, which gave her a 136 total. Lee's total was five strokes clear of teammate Tiffany Lua and Southern California's Lisa McCloskey.
OSU's Jayde Panos finished the day in the top 10 with an even-par 144 tally. The sophomore fired a 3-under 69 to finish the opening round tied for third. Panos followed with a 75 to move into a tie with Ani Gulugian for the seventh spot.
Junior Kelsey Vines opened with a 75 of her own before posting a 73 during the afternoon round to stand in a tie for 25th place at 148.
Sophomore Amy Ruengmateekhun carded rounds of 77 and 74 for a 151, tying her for 49th place, while senior Jocelyn Alford finished the day tied for 58th place at 153 after signing for rounds of 75 and 78.
Freshman Courtney Ferguson rounded out the starting five with scores of 77 and 78 to stand alone in 67th place at 155.
The Cowgirls will close out the event tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. (PST) and will be grouped with Oregon State and Washington State.
