Cowboy Tennis Knocks Off Purdue to Open Spring Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Oklahoma State men's tennis team opened competition at the San Diego Hilton Mission Valley Spring Classic on Thursday by defeating No. 52 Purdue, 4-3.
The Cowboys took the first point of the dual after sweeping all three doubles matches. Rifat Biktyakv and Vlad Bondarenko reunited to pick up their fifth win of the year when they defeated Szymon Tatarcyzk and Aaron Dujovne, 8-3. Chris Haworth and Eric West picked up an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Brandon Champagne and Trevor Horstmann won, 8-2, at the No. 3 spot.
Haworth and West each earned their eighth singles victories on the season in three-set victories. West remained undefeated on the year with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, triumph at No. 4, while Haworth won 7-6, 2-6, 6-1 at No. 3.
Trevor Horstmann notched a 7-5, 6-3, victory against Pawel Poziomski at the No. 6 singles spot.
The Cowboys improve to 5-5 on the season and match their entire win total from last season when they went 5-14.
OSU will take on the winner of San Diego/Marquette tomorrow at the Hogan Tennis Center.
