Cowgirls Lose Second Game of Series

20th-ranked Oklahoma State softball team closed out the regular season with a 3-1 loss to No. 16 Nebraska Sunday afternoon at Bowlin Stadium. The Cowgirls are 37-17 on the season and 8-10 in Big 12 play.
Senior Alysia Hamilton led off the fourth inning with a double to left field. She advanced on a sacrifice bunt from Julie Ward and scored on a throwing error by the Husker shortstop. It would be the only run the Cowgirls could score during the game.
Nebraska (39-12, 9-9) scored their three runs from a solo home run by Julie Brechtel in the first inning and Nikki Haget hitting a two-RBI single in the second inning.
Freshman Simone Freeman started in the circle for the Cowgirls. She threw 1.1 innings, gave up two hits for three earned runs and struck out three. She picked up the loss and is now 9-8 on the season. Senior Sarah Odom relieved her in the second inning. She finished the game throwing a scoreless 4.2 innings allowing just one hit, walking three and striking out five.
Nebraska's Ashley Hagemann picked up her second win of the weekend and improves to 29-11 on the year. She allowed four hits for no earned runs and struck out six.
The Cowgirls will find out where they will play in Regionals tonight at 9:00 CT on ESPNU for the NCAA Softball Selection Show.
