HOUSTON, Texas (OSU Athletics Senior Mariah Gearhart led the game off with a bunt single and scored on Alysia Hamilton's third home run of the season. In the second inning, Gearhart hit a solo home run to center field, her first of the season.
The Cowgirls (8-2) added another run in the third from an RBI-single by Chelsea Garcia and another run in the fourth off and RBI-single by Hamilton.
Nicholls State (4-6) three runs came from homeruns by Ashley Ray. She hit a solo shot in the fourth inning and a two-run shot in the fifth.
Oklahoma State tacked on another four runs in the sixth inning with the help of a three-run homerun by Morrison. Two batters later, Julie Ward hit a solo shot to centerfield, her third of the season. In the seventh, Morrison hit her second home run of the game, a two-run hit over the centerfield fence. Freshman Kelsea Schultz got her first RBI of the season as she hit a single up the middle to score Hamilton from second.
Simone Freeman threw all seven innings for the Cowgirls and improved to 3-2 on the season. She allowed four hits for three earned runs, struck out seven and walked just one.
OSU will play again next weekend when they travel to Palm Springs, Calif., to play five games from Thursday through Saturday.
