Cowgirls Announce 2012 Schedule

Stillwater, Okla. — Oklahoma State is scheduled to play 18 home games this season, including three-game series with Texas A&M, Iowa State and Baylor, it was announced today with the release of the 2012 Cowgirl Softball schedule.
The Cowgirls will play their first 14 games on the road in a trio of tournaments, starting with the Hilton Houston Plaza Classic in Houston, Feb. 10-12. OSU will participate in the ACC/Big 12/SEC Challenge in Auburn, Ala., Feb. 17-19, facing Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech from the Atlantic Coast Conference, as well as Auburn and Alabama from the Southeastern Conference.
Oklahoma State will once again travel to the Cathedral City Classic in Palm Springs, Calif. There, the Cowgirls will play five games, including contests against Northwestern of the Big 10 as well as the Pac 12's Arizona and Oregon.
OSU will open the home portion of its schedule with a game against Iowa on March 2, part of The Preview, which features the Cowgirls and Oklahoma Sooners playing Iowa and LSU. Oklahoma State will play both the Hawkeyes and Tigers in Oklahoma City at the ASA/Hall of Fame Stadium on Saturday, March 3, and host LSU on that Sunday.
The Cowgirls will host the Mizuno Classic March 9-11, including Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Loyola (Chicago) and Nebraska. OSU will also compete in the Gaucho Classic II in Santa Barbara, Calif., with games against San Jose State, UC Santa Barbara and Wisconsin.
A home-and-home series with Tulsa will be played on March 7 (in Tulsa) and Stillwater (March 20). The Cowgirls will also host Wichita State on March 13.
For the first time since the Big 12 formed in 1996, teams will play a three-game series. Oklahoma State will host Texas A&M (March 30-April 1), Iowa State (April 13-15) and Baylor (April 27-29). The Cowgirls will travel to Kansas (March 23-25), Texas (April 20-22), Texas Tech (May 5-7) and Missouri (May 11-13).
The Bedlam series will take place on both campuses and in Oklahoma City. The game at ASA/Hall of Fame Stadium will be played on March 28. The Stillwater game will be played on April 11, with the Norman contest scheduled for April 25.
