IRVING, Texas - Oklahoma State's Oleksandr Nedovyesov is the 2009 Big 12 men's tennis player of the year; it was announced today by the league office.
It is the second consecutive Big 12 player of the year honor for the Alushta, Ukraine, native. Nedovyesov compiled a 17-3 record this spring, including a 5-1 mark in Big 12 matches. He is the No. 2 ranked player in the nation.
The junior Nedovyesov was also a unanimous choice for the All-Big 12 singles team. In his three years at OSU, Nedovyesov has been a unanimous All-Big 12 performer each year in singles and doubles.
Nedovyesov and senior Nathan Byrnes were also a unanimous pick for the All-Big 12 doubles team after a 5-1 Big 12 season this spring. It is the second-straight year the Cowboy duo has earned that honor.
The All-Big 12 teams are chosen by a vote of the league coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own athletes.
