OSU Netters Earn Academic All-Big 12 Honors

On the men's side, sophomore Oleksandr Nedovyesov, an economics major, garnered first-team honors, while fellow sophomore Dmytro Petrov, also majoring in economics, was named to the second team.

“These kids face the tough task of balancing athletics and academics,” said Cowboy head coach James Wadley. “Being able to hang in there and achieve success in both areas  that says a lot about these student athletes.”
On the women's side, four Cowgirl seniors captured first-team honors, including Yawna Allen and Jessica Collins, who played major roles in OSU's late conference run in which they won five of their final seven matches.
Allen, a journalism/broadcasting-news editorial major from
Lauren Ovelgonne was one of only four players on the women's side with a 4.00 GPA. The
The Big 12 states, “To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.”
