Trent Leon Named Big 12 Golfer of the Month

Oklahoma State's Trent Leon was named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month for March it was announced today by the league office. The Dallas, Texas native shared the honor with Texas A&M's Nacho Elvira and is the second Cowboy to receive the distinction this year.

Leon competed in four events during the month, posting two top-20 finishes and capping the month with his first collegiate victory. He tallied an 8-under 208 total at the U.S. Collegiate in Alpharetta, Ga. that included rounds of 69, 69 and 70 en route to a one-stroke victory.

The junior also tied for 17th at the Puerto Rico Classic and carded three sub-70 rounds during the month. For his efforts, he was also named the Southern Golf Association's National Amateur of the Month.

OSU freshman Rickie Fowler received the honor last September.
