Williams Resigns Position with Cowboy Basketball Program
April 03, 2007 | Cowboy Basketball
“In my time (at Oklahoma State), I have been challenged and stimulated by my work, supported by two fine coaches in Sean and Eddie Sutton, and other members of the basketball staff, and encouraged by a wonderful athletic administration,” said Williams. “All in all, working with Cowboy Basketball has been like a joy ride. I have very much enjoyed being a part of the OSU Basketball program.”
Williams just completed the third year of his second stay in Stillwater. He first came to Oklahoma State in 1999-2000 and was an assistant as the Cowboys went 27-7 and advanced to the Elite Eight. OSU was ranked sixth in the final USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll that season.
He returned to Stillwater and was an integral part of the Cowboys reaching the Sweet 16 in 2004-05.
“We certainly appreciate the hard work and dedication that Jimmy has afforded us during both his stints at Oklahoma State,” said Sutton. “He has been a true friend and a valuable asset to this program, both under my father and myself.
“We wish Coach Williams continued success in his future coaching career,” Sutton continued. “He will always have my utmost respect both personally and professionally.”
