Oklahoma State's women's tennis team came up on the short end of a 7-0 score on Saturday against the No. 14 ranked Longhorns of Texas at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center in Austin.
The Cowgirls (5-1 overall, 1-1 Big 12) only win came at the No. 3 doubles position where the substitute team of sophomore Ines Furtmayr and freshman Zana Masnic defeated Kelly Baritot and Macey Breece, 8-5.
Texas claimed the doubles point by picking up wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.
The No. 6 ranked duo of senior Linda Faltynkova and junior Katya Kolodynska were dropped by Kendra Strohm and Zina Grasic, 8-5. At the No. 2 position, while senior Kate Vasylyeva and sophomore Ewa Radzikowska were defeated by Lindsay Blay and Michelle Krinke, 8-5.
Things would not get any better for the Cowgirls in singles play.
Still nursing an injured foot, Faltynkova could not overcome an early deficit to Strohm, and lost 6-3, 6-2.
Unable to fare any better, Vasylyeva fell to Krinke in straight sets 7-5, 6-4, and Kolodynska could never get any offense going against Blay, falling 6-1, 6-2.
After gaining the early lead, Radzikowska could not hold off UT's Grasic, dropping 2-6, 7-5, (10-4). Masnic was unable to get things going against Baritot, falling 6-4, 6-2.
Ending the day for the Cowgirls, Furtmayr was defeated by Breece, 6-2, 6-1.
OSU will look to rebound on March 1 when they travel to College Station to take on Texas A&M at 1:30 p.m. at the Texas A&M Tennis Center.
