Paula Gowing Breaks a School Record

AUSTIN, Texas - Oklahoma State's Paula Gowing broke the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday, Apr. 5 at the Texas Relays at Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
Gowing, a senior from Bristol, England, ran a time of 11 minutes, 02.68 seconds to edge Stephanie Bennett of Baylor who had a time of 11:02.71 and finish fifth. Julie Perez of Houston won the race with a time of 10:53.62.
Gowing's last time to see competition was with mono at the cross country nationals in Greenville, S.C. on Nov. 19.
The Cowgirls also sent a relay team to compete in the 1600-meter sprint medley. The Cowgirls team of Alison Erzinger, Valentina Medina, Melissa Ndibilo and Paula Ogunbanjo finished twelfth with a time of 4:06.07. They finished ahead of Michigan State of the Big Ten Conference.
The Cowgirls next meet is the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman, Okla.
