Langston Suffers As Cowboys Tune Up

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - Brian Montonati and Desmond Mason both had double-doubles Wednesday night as No. 16 Oklahoma State tuned up for the start of Big 12 play by beating Langston 125-65.
Montonati had 28 points and 12 rebounds, and Mason had 22 and 15 as the Cowboys (11-1) came up two points shy of the school record for points in a game. Glendon Alexander made seven 3-pointers and finished with 25 points.
Langston (1-9), an NAIA school, was outclassed from the start. The Lions shot just 38 percent compared with 62 percent for Oklahoma State, which also had a 46-32 advantage on the backboards.
Montonati scored the first seven points of the game and the Cowboys capitalized on a size advantage to score often from inside.
Montonati scored six points and Alexander had five in a 13-0 run that gave the Cowboys a 34-12 lead with 9 1/2 minutes left in the first half. An 11-0 run later in the half helped spark the Cowboys to a 66-29 halftime lead.
Mason had two 3-pointers to highlight a 12-2 run early in the second half as the Cowboys built an 81-36 lead.
Lee James scored 26 points for Langston.
The game was Oklahoma State's first since 1982 against an in-state opponent other than Oklahoma, Tulsa or Oral Roberts.
