Cowgirl Track Set For Full Weekend in California

Oklahoma State's women's track and field team will travel to California to take part in three meets between the Long Beach Invitational, the Mt. SAC Relays and the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational beginning on Apr. 19.

The Long Beach Invitational will take place on Saturday, Apr. 20 at Jack Rose Track on the campus of Long Beach State University. Paula Ogunbanjo and Maria Berggren will compete in the triple jump, while Melissa Ndibilo and Stephani Duff will take part in the long jump. Ndibilo will also compete in the 200-meter dash and Alison Erzinger is set to compete in the 800-meter run.

The Cowgirls will send Siri Alfheim to compete in the 5,000-meter run at the Mt. SAC Relays on Apr. 19. She won the national championship in the event during indoor season. Paula Gowing, Alexandra Lindquist and Valentina Medina will also be there to compete in the 1,500-meter run on Apr. 20.

Everybody scheduled to be in the first two meets will also be in the Pomona-Pitzer on Apr. 19 except Alfheim. Jaime Lucero is looking to return from an injury in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Janine Brown, Catherine Clifford, Kristina Klos and Sharalee Sparks will all compete in the 10,000-meter run. Laurel Catlett-King will throw the javelin and Svetlana Vasileva will compete in the 400-meter hurdles.
