NCAA regional qualifier in both the discus and the shot put ... Placed 12th at the region meet in the shot put ... Season-best mark in the discus was a toss of 54.09 meters at the Big 12 Championships that was good for a runner-up finish at the event and points for the Cowgirls ... Her second-place finish at the conference meet was the highest for any Cowgirl since Eva Tomankova placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 2007 ... 2009 Indoors: Oklahoma State's top thrower ... Set a season-best in the shot put with a toss of 15.05 meters at the Big 12 Championships, where she placed sixth to score for the Cowgirls at the conference meet ... That performance ranked as the fourth-best indoor mark in school history ... Other shot put marks included performances of 14.66 meters at the Sooner Open I, 14.65 meters at the Sooner Open II, 14.02 meters at the J.D. Martin Invitational, 13.53 meters at the Kansas State Invitational and 13.44 meters at the Kansas State All-Comers meet ... 2008 Outdoors: NCAA regional qualifier in both the shot put and the discus enjoyed one of the finest seasons ever for an Oklahoma State thrower ... Her 56.18-meter discus throw at the Kansas Relays won her the event title and broke her own school record of 54.52 meters that she set just one week earlier at the John Jacobs Invitational ... Her 56.18 meter mark was the fifth-best throw in the nation during the 2008 outdoor season ... 2006 Outdoors: Dietz focused primarily on throwing the discus ... claimed the second best throw for the Cowgirls with a distance of 149-00 at the Mean Green Invitational, where she finished seventh ... finished 15th in the event at the Big 12 Championships with a throw of 144-04 ... also claimed top-five finishes at the Tulsa Duels and John Jacobs Invitational.
2006 Indoors: Dietz focused primarily on the shot put, seeing action in six meets during her freshman campaign ... threw a season best distance of 42-9.50 to finish ninth at the KSU All-Comers Meet ... claimed three other top-10 finishes at the Adidas Classic, J.D. Martin Invitational and the ISU Classic.
High School: Dietz showed tremendous talent as a young thrower, particularly in the discus and the shot put ... won her district meet in the shot put and discus during her sophomore, junior and senior campaigns ... as a freshman, Dietz finished second in the discus and fourth in the shot put at the Nebraska State Track and Field Championships ... In 2003, Dietz had a second-place finish in the discus, while earning second in the shot put at the state championships ... as a junior, she finished third in the respected events ... aside from track and field, Dietz showed her athleticism in basketball by earning honorable mention all-metro and honorable mention All-State in 2004.

Merritt has one other sister, Adair, and is the daughter of Craig and Trish Dietz.
