Oklahoma State’s women’s tennis team has released its schedule for the 2013-14 season, Cowgirl tennis coach Chris Young announced on Tuesday afternoon.
“This year’s schedule is filled with ranked programs that will challenge our team and give us the ability to achieve all of our goals,” Young said. “We have quality tournaments in the fall and a spring that will see us face 15 opponents that finished last season with a national ranking. We are excited to open the spring in Hawaii, and return to the ITA Kickoff Weekend and the Blue-Gray Classic as well.”
The Cowgirls will head to Cary, N.C. from Sept. 13-15 to kick off their fall schedule at the Duke Invitational, before competing at the Missouri Invitational and Air Force Invitational the following two weekends. Oklahoma State will appear at the ITA Central Region Championships in Norman, Okla., beginning on Oct. 18. The Cowgirls wrap up the fall season with the USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational and the Dick Vitale Clay Court Classic.
To begin their spring season, the Cowgirls will travel to Maui, Hawaii, to compete at the Hawaii Pacific Hidden Duals from Jan. 17-19. The following weekend, Oklahoma State will appear at ITA Kickoff Weekend in Chicago, Ill. Along with the host team Northwestern, Arizona State and Notre Dame will also be competing at the tournament site.
The Cowgirls will face in-state foe Tulsa for their first match in the brand new Greenwood Tennis Center on Jan. 31, and after a short trip to Fayetteville, Ark., to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks, Oklahoma State will travel to Minneapolis, Minn., for a pair of matches against Minnesota and Oregon.
Oklahoma State will compete at the Blue-Gray Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Ala., from Feb. 21-23. Also appearing at the Blue-Gray Classic are Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Illinois, Rice, Texas Tech and Virginia.
Following the Blue-Gray Classic, the Cowgirls will begin a four match home stand that will bring Wichita State, Oklahoma, TCU and Texas Tech to Stillwater.
Oklahoma State’s Senior Day is scheduled for April 6, as the Cowgirls will play host to conference foe West Virginia at noon. The Cowgirls will wrap up their regular season schedule when they travel to Norman, Okla., for a Bedlam matchup with Oklahoma on April 19.
The 2014 Big 12 Championships will be played from April 24-27 in Fort Worth, Texas.
