Cowgirl Tennis Signs Two

July 10, 2014

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State's women's tennis team has signed Kelsey Laurente and Vladica Babic for the 2014-15 season it was announced today by Cowgirl tennis coach Chris Young.

"I am thrilled to welcome Kelsey and Vladi to the Cowgirl tennis family," Young said. "Both girls will make an immediate impact on our program and help us continue to compete for championships."

Laurente transfers to Oklahoma State as a junior after playing her first two collegiate seasons at the University of Miami. In her sophomore season, the Miramar, Fla., native notched a 13-9 overall singles record while playing primarily in the No. 2 singles spot in dual matches for the Hurricanes. In 2014, Laurente was ranked as high as No. 33 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles poll and was named to the All-ACC Second Team. In doubles, Laurente teamed up with Melissa Bolivar to go 12-5 in dual matches. The pair was slotted as high as No. 28 in the ITA doubles rankings.

Babic, a native of Montenegro, comes to Stillwater as a freshman after having had success on the ITF Pro Circuit last year. Babic achieved a career high ITF doubles ranking of 487 and a career high singles ranking of 860, each coming in 2013. She has won two professional tournaments in doubles, including an event in Pirot in which she teamed up with Cowgirl sophomore Katarina Adamovic.

Laurente and Babic join a talented cast of young Cowgirls that will look to top an exciting 2014 campaign in which the team advanced to the Big 12 Championship and the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second-consecutive season.
