STILLWATER, Okla.—The Oklahoma State women’s tennis team heads to College Station, Texas this weekend to compete in the 2012 Big 12 Championships, held April 26-29 at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
Seeded No. 5, the Cowgirls kick off championship play on Friday at noon when they take on Texas for the second time in less than a week.
The No. 37 Cowgirls are 11-8 overall and 5-4 in Big 12 play after knocking off then-No. 6 Texas, 4-3, to earn one of the biggest wins in program history. OSU has claimed Big 12 wins over Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa and Texas, as well as three wins over nationally-ranked teams.
To put the competition of the tournament field into perspective, eight of the 10 teams competing are ranked by the ITA.
The Cowgirls boast the No. 58 duo of Malika Rose and Kanyapat Narattana in doubles play, while freshman Meghan Blevins leads the team in singles play. She has the most wins this season with a 13-5 overall record and a 5-4 mark in league play, playing primarily at the No. 3 position.
