STILLWATER, Okla.—The No. 51 Oklahoma State women’s tennis team finishes its regular season this weekend in Stillwater when it takes on No. 24 Texas A&M and No. 6 Texas, seeking a bid to the NCAA Championship.
The Cowgirls (10-7, 4-3 Big 12) will face the Texas A&M Aggies (14-4, 5-2 Big 12) Saturday at 2 p.m. Sunday’s match against Texas (13-6, 6-1 Big 12) will begin at noon.
The first 100 fans to Saturday’s match will receive a free sandwich and drink courtesy of the Stillwater Tennis Association and the first 75 fans will receive a free t-shirt. Free pizza and drinks will also be available during Sunday’s match.
The Cowgirls are tied for fifth in the Big 12 standings with a 4-3 conference record and could make a jump in the league standings with a pair of wins. Freshman Meghan Blevins, who is 12-4 overall and 4-3 in league play, leads the Cowgirls in dual wins at the No. 3 spot. Oklahoma State’s doubles tandem of Malika Rose and Kanyapat Narattana is ranked 58th nationally and is fresh off a win over the No. 36 team in the country.
The Aggies have three nationally ranked players in No. 8 Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar, No. 80 Nazari Urbina and No. 83 Sun Wen. Sanchez-Quintanar is 7-0 in conference play and 17-1 in dual play, playing primarily at the No. 1 position.
A&M is 19-11 in the all-time series against OSU and has won the last 10 meetings. The Cowgirls' last win against the Aggies was in the finals of the 2003 Big 12 Championship.
Texas is led by a pair of ranked singles players in No. 30 Aeriel Ellis and No. 62 Krista Damico. The Longhorns, who face the Oklahoma Sooners Saturday, lead the all-time series with the Cowgirls, 28-3.
