STILLWATER, Okla. – The No. 41 Oklahoma State women’s tennis team hosts its first conference matches of the year this weekend as the Cowgirls take on No. 71 Missouri and Iowa State at the DeBois Tennis complex in Stillwater.
The Cowgirls (8-3; 2-1 Big 12) will face Missouri (5-6; 0-2 Big 12) at 2 p.m. Friday and Iowa State (3-12; 0-2 Big 12) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
OSU, who holds its highest ranking since February 2007, is coming off of a pair of road wins at Kansas State and Kansas. The Cowgirls’ roster includes one ranked athlete in No. 114 C.C. Sardinha, who holds a 6-5 dual record. She is one of two players to start at No. 1 singles for the Cowgirls this year, with the other being Malika Rose, who holds a 7-4 dual mark.
Missouri is coming off of losses to Texas A&M and Texas last weekend. The Tigers feature one ranked singles athlete in No. 93 Rachel Stuhlmann, who leads MU with an overall record of 12-2. Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Missouri, 28-5, and won the last meeting in 2011, 4-3.
Iowa State, who faces OU in Norman Friday afternoon, is on a four-match losing streak. Their last win came against Drake on March 9. The Cowgirls have never lost a dual to the Cyclones, as OSU leads the all-time series 36-0. OSU won the last meeting in 2011, 5-2.
