OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -
Oklahoma State’s women’s tennis team grabbed its third win of the season on Saturday, sweeping Minnesota at The Greens Country Club in Oklahoma City, 7-0.
No. 42 Oklahoma State (3-1) dominated the 41st ranked Gophers, winning the doubles point and all six singles matches to complete their second sweep of the season.
Meghan Blevins and Karyn Guttormsen took the Cowgirls’ first doubles victory of the afternoon over Yuliana Umanets and Jessika Mozia of Minnesota, 8-4. The tandem of Malika Rose and Kanyapat Narattana won their match as well to clinch the doubles point for Oklahoma State.
The Cowgirls’ would continue their stellar performance going into singles play, winning four of their six singles matches in two sets.
Seniors C.C. Sardinha and Malika Rose were especially dominant in the Cowgirl victory, downing their opponents 6-1, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-3, respectively. Narattana and Guttormsen also took their matches in two sets.
“This was a great way to start the weekend,” Cowgirl tennis coach Chris Young said. “Our girls battled hard today against a good team. I look forward to a tough match tomorrow.”
The Cowgirls will be back in action Sunday when they return to The Greens Country Club in Oklahoma City to take on No. 37 Arkansas at 1 p.m.
