ORLANDO, Fla. -
The Oklahoma State women’s tennis team wrapped up play at the United States Tennis Association Collegiate Clay Court Invitational on Saturday. Overall, it was a successful weekend for the Cowgirls, with Megan McCray advancing as far as the singles semifinals, and Kanyapat Narattana and Carla Tur Mari making it to the doubles quarterfinals.
Cowgirl Megan McCray played a tough, three-set match in her semifinal round matchup against Sofia Kenin. McCray took the first set, but Kenin took the following two to defeat the freshman, 6-7 (6), 7-6 (4), 6-3.
“This was another good tournament for our team,” Cowgirl tennis coach Chris Young said. “It was a quick turn around from being inside to on clay, and our girls handled it well. Megan (McCray) continues to perform well and this weekend was another step forward for her and the girls.”
The Cowgirls will look to finish their fall season strong when they head to Bradenton, Fla., next month to compete at the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic. The tournament is set to begin on Friday, Nov. 8.
