TULSA, Okla. – The Oklahoma State women’s tennis team advanced two doubles tandems to the main draw semifinal round at the USTA/ITA Central Region Championship Saturday to highlight the Cowgirls’ second day of competition at the event. The freshman duo of Meghan Blevins and Mary Jeremiah provided the biggest win of the day as they upset Arkansas’ top-seeded team of Paulson and Lukomskaya, 8-6. They followed that win with another over a set of Razorbacks, defeating eighth-seeded Carbone and Roy in the quarterfinal, 8-5. Kanyapat Narattana and Malika Rose also had a pair of big victories, defeating Davidson and Vickers of Tulsa, 8-4, before upsetting second-seeded Kansas Jayhawks Morozova and Windom in a tiebreaker, 9-8(2). With those doubles wins, the possibility remains of an all-Oklahoma State final in the main draw doubles bracket. In singles action, Narattana and Blevins were eliminated in the main draw round of 16, but C.C. Sardinha and Jeremiah each recorded a pair of wins to advance to the quarterfinal of the consolation bracket.
