FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Oklahoma State women’s tennis finished its competition at the Razorback Classic Sunday, with Nataliya Shatkovskaya and Leyla Simmons highlighting the day with wins in both singles and doubles play. “We had a great finish today,” coach Chris Young said. “I’m excited about our continued improvement in doubles and the way our girls are competing. Today Nataliya and Leyla were great examples of what we are looking for.” Oklahoma State won all three of its doubles matches and two of its three singles matches Sunday. Shatkovskaya’s doubles victory came when she and teammate Sasha Belova downed Tulsa’s Rebecca Row and Marta Marcinkowska, 8-6. In singles play, she knocked off Arkansas’ Kelsey Sundaram in two quick sets, 6-1, 6-2. Simmons, alongside teammate Alexandra Cristello, won her doubles match against Kansas State’s Karla Bonacic and Ana Gomez-Aleman, 8-4. Her singles win came against Tulsa’s Meredith Burns, 7-6 (1), 7-6 (2). Oklahoma State is scheduled to return to action on Oct. 21, when the Cowgirls travel to Norman, Okla., for the ITA Central Regional.
