STILLWATER, Okla.--The No. 41-ranked Cowgirls suffered their fourth loss of the season to the No. 29-ranked Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Tuesday, losing 5-2.
Oklahoma State (10-4) started competition dropping two of the three doubles matches at Nos. 1 and 3, giving Tulsa (13-3) a 1-0 lead going into singles play. The Cowgirl duo of Meghan Blevins and Mary Jeremiah picked up an 8-4 doubles win over Bonny Davidson and Samantha Vickers at No. 2.
Blevins and Jeremiah kept their momentum each winning their singles matches in straight sets at Nos. 3 and 6, giving OSU its only two points of the match.
"It was a tight match that could have gone either way," coach Chris Young said. "We lost the doubles today for the first time in a while. That kind of set the tone. Our girls competed well, and I'm proud of them for that."
The Cowgirls travel to Texas for a weekend of Big 12 play against No. 22 Texas Tech and No. 13 Baylor.
