LAWRENCE, Kan.—The No. 56-ranked Cowgirl tennis team finished the weekend with another Big 12 win as the Cowgirls defeated the Jayhawks, 6-1, in Lawrence, Kan., on Sunday.
OSU picked up its eighth win of the season, which matches the Cowgirls’ total wins from last year.
The win at doubles was just the momentum the Cowgirls needed as they won five of the six singles matches, four of which were straight-set wins. Sardinha, Narattana and Jeremiah each picked up their second singles win of the weekend.
At No. 2, Malika Rose bounced back from a 6-2 loss in the first set and defeated Paulina Los, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1.
The lone loss for the Cowgirls came at the No. 3 spot, where Blevins fell to No. 118 Maria Belen Ludueña after a super tie-breaker.
“I’m really proud of our girls today as this was the best team win of the season,” coach Chris Young said. “Kansas played well today, and we were able to take our games to another level. I was most impressed with our energy and toughness.”
OSU returns to competition this week at the IMG Spring Classic in Bradenton, Fla.
