EVANSTON, Ill. - The Oklahoma State women's tennis team wrapped up the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Sunday with a 4-0 loss to No. 21 Notre Dame.
In doubles, Cowgirls Viktoriya Lushkova and Katarina Adamovic picked up the first victory of the day, knocking off Notre Dame's Mary Cross and Julie Sabacinski on two, 6-4. The Irish responded, however, when Jennifer Kellner and Jane Fennelly defeated Oklahoma State's Karyn Guttormsen and Maria Alvarez, 7-5, on court three.
Kanyapat Narattana and Carla Tur Mari challenged the 30th-ranked doubles team of Notre Dame's Quinn Gleason and Britney Sanders, but were eventually upended, 7-6(3), in a tight match that clinched the doubles point for the Irish.
In singles play, freshman Carla Tur Mari was defeated by Notre Dame's Julie Vrabel, 6-3, 6-2, to expand the Irish lead to two. The deficit was pushed to three when Cowgirl Katarina Adamovic was knocked off by Notre Dame's Mary Cross on four, 6-3, 6-4.
Notre Dame's Britney Sanders sealed the win for Notre Dame with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Cowgirl senior Kanyapat Narattana. Freshmen Viktoriya Lushkova and Megan McCray both took the first sets in their matches on two and three, respectively, and were entering third sets when the match was clinched for Notre Dame.
The Cowgirls will look to bounce back next Friday when they host 28th-ranked Tulsa in the team's first match at the brand new Greenwood Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
