The Oklahoma State Cowgirl Softball program emerged as one of the nation's best in the 1980's and 1990's, winning 9 conference championships, making six appearances in the Women's College World Series, and sending three athletes to the Olympic games. The Cowgirls returned to prominence in 2011, winning the NCAA Stillwater Super Regional and advancing to their seventh WCWS.

9 Conference Championships
The Cowgirls have won nine conference championships since the program's inception in 1975. Under the guidance of coach Sandy Fischer, Oklahoma State emerged as one of the most successful softball programs in the Big 8, and went on to dominate the conference by winning seven consecutive conference crowns from 1989-1995. The Cowgirls have finished in the top three of the Big 12 Conference five times since the league began competition in the 1997 season.
