Oklahoma State's Julie Ward went 6-for-8 with three home runs and 10 runs batted in as the Cowgirls defeated Rogers State in scrimmage softball action this evening at the Cowgirl Softball Complex. OSU improved to 4-0 during the fall season.

In the first contest, Oklahoma State took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Mariah Gearhart walked and made her way around the bases thanks to three consecutive illegal pitches by RSU starting pitcher Tye Coats. The Cowgirls scored three more runs on three hits and an error, capped by a Chelsea Garcia RBI single up the middle.

The Cowgirls doubled their score in the bottom of the second. With two on and one out, Alysia Hamilton tripled off the right field wall, scoring Kelsey Anchors and Amy Graham. Ward followed with a two-run homer off the top of the batter's eye in centerfield. OSU scored another run in the bottom of the fifth, and Ward led off the bottom of the sixth with her second round-tripper of the game to cap the 10-0 victory.

Cowgirl senior Anna Whiddon threw a complete-game shutout, throwing a perfect game through 5-2/3 innings before walking Brittany White in the sixth. Katrina Loy broke up the no-hitter with a bloop single to right to lead off the seventh inning.

Oklahoma State continued its offensive dominance in game two, scoring three runs off six hits, including RBI singles by Katelyn Bright, Ward and Gearhart. Ward knocked in two more runs in the second on a base hit up the middle.

It was 6-0 in the third after Sammy Jo Diffendaffer hit a triple and scored on a passed ball. In the bottom of the sixth, Ward hit her third home run of the evening, this time a three-run bomb that cleared the right-centerfield fence by about 30 feet.

OSU scored its final run of the game on a sacrifice fly by pitcher Taylor Marcum. The Cowgirl junior threw seven scoreless innings, scattering four hits while striking out six.

Oklahoma State will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 6, as the Cowgirls host St. Gregory's in a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m.
