STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's softball team picked up a valuable regional win Thursday, defeating Wichita State, 3-2. The Shockers pulled within one in the top of the fifth, but OSU was able to halt the rally and slide by with the win.

With one out in the bottom of the first, Casey O'Neill reached on a walk, advanced to second on an error by catcher Robin Sando and was quick to move to third when a wild pitch made it past Sando. Stephanie Hodges sent the ball to left field and O'Neill rounded the bases for the first run of the game.

OSU continued to perform well at the plate with Ryan Realmuto knocking a single to center and moving Hodges into scoring position. Jade Lindly followed with a walk to load the bases and put the Shockers in a bind.

Megan Carey reached on a fielder's choice, as Hodges was thrown out at home on the play. With two outs, Calli Behmer came up big with a double to right field, the only extra base hit of the night, to score Realmuto and Lindly. The runs would prove crucial late in the game and provide the Cowgirls with just enough offensive output to win. Carey attempted to cover three bases on Behmer's shot, but was thrown out at home to end the inning.

Wichita State rallied from behind and put together a strong fifth inning, scoring two runs. With two outs and the bases loaded, Stephanie Scott hit a RBI single to put the Shockers on the board and give the team renewed energy. Nicki Mooers continued the rally, plating Audrey Walters on a single up the middle and cutting the Cowgirl advantage to one.

April Arata hit a fly ball to center fielder Summer Younk to end the inning and the Cowgirls held the Shockers in check for the remaining three innings of play.

Cami Carter (9-4) pickup up the win on the mound, striking out three while allowing six hits.

The Cowgirls (23-12) travel to Lubbock, Texas this weekend to face Texas Tech in conference play. The Cowgirls and Red Raiders square off at 2 p.m. on Saturday and on Sunday at noon.
