STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team has added a pair of players it was announced today by head coach Alan Bratton as Casie Cathrea and Isabella Deilert both signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Cowgirls for the 2013-14 season.
"These two players are the combination of talent, work ethic and personality that make them a perfect fit for our program," Bratton said.
Cathrea has logged more than 155 victories during her career, including the 2009 California Women's Amateur Championship. The Northern California Golf Association Player of the Year in 2010 and 2011, she tallied 14 victories in 2012 and was a member of the United States Junior Ryder Cup squad.
A native of Livermore, Calif., Cathrea has participated in three LPGA events. She became the second-youngest player to ever Monday qualify for a Tour event, earning a spot in the CVS/pharmacy LPGA Challenge as a 13-year-old.
"Casie's resume speaks for itself. She is clearly one of the best players in the country. She has already developed a passion for Oklahoma State and is excited to be a Cowgirl. She has an opportunity to be a leader for us right away," Bratton said.
This past July, Deilert was responsible for providing the deciding point in Sweden's victory over Spain at the European Girls Team Championship. The 2011 campaign saw Deilert post one international victory to go with three wins in her native Sweden.
In 2010, Deilert became the first person to win both the Swedish Junior stroke play and match play championships in the same year. A representative for Europe during the 2010 Junior Ryder Cup, she also became the first Swedish player to win the European Young Masters.
"Isabella continues our tradition of signing the best players from Sweden. She understands what teamwork is all about and thrives in a team setting. With her athletic ability the sky is the limit on what she can achieve"
