Cowgirl Golf Set For Regional Play
Oklahoma State's women's golf team will resume play this week when it travels to State College, Pa. for the NCAA East Regional. The 54-hole event will consist of 18 holes each day beginning with Thursday's first round and concluding on Saturday. The seventh-seeded Cowgirls will be paired with No. 8 seed South Carolina and No. 9 seed Michigan State during the first round. The trio will begin on the No. 1 tee at 7:30 a.m. (EST) at the par-72, 6,253-yard layout. Friday’s second round is scheduled to get underway for those same three teams at 11:50 a.m. on the No. 10 tee. The teams will be regrouped for Saturday’s final round.

OSU In NCAA Regional Play
The Cowgirls are competing in their 20th consecutive NCAA regional, and have advanced to the NCAA Championships 12 times, including 10 of the last 11, through regional play. The Cowgirls have finished in the top five in six of their last seven regional appearances and nine of their last 11. OSU claimed its first-ever regional title in 2007 at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club in St. George, Utah. This season marks OSU's second appearance in the East Regional. OSU has competed at the West Regional on 12 occasions and the Central Regional six times. OSU’s previous appearance in the East Regional came in 2004 with the Cowgirls finishing eighth at Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

Regional Rewind ... 2011 Central Regional
The Cowgirls tallied a 313 score during their third round at the NCAA Central Regional to finish 17th at Warren Golf Course. The finish snapped a string of 10 consecutive NCAA Championship appearances for OSU. The Cowgirls endured a two-hour weather delay before carding their 25-over closing round to move up one spot at the par-72, 6,208-yard layout. OSU finished with a 54-hole total of 937 and two shots behind North Texas. UCLA won the event by four shots over LSU with an 890 total. UCLA's Stephanie Kono mounted a final-round charge with a 68 to move from a tie for 17th into a tie for first place with LSU's Megan McChrystal. The duo shared medalist honors at 2-over 218. OSU’s Jayde Panos was the squad's top finisher. The Perth, Australia native posted a 79 during her final round to finish in a tie for 34th place at 228. Jade Staggs carded an 81 during her third round to get in with a 233 total and tied for 63rd place, while Jocelyn Alford's 81 tied her for 101st place at 242. Josephine Janson signed for the squad's low round of the day with a 76 to finish at 246 and tied for 115th. Also finishing among the group tied for 115th was  Hillary Wood, who posted a 77 during her final round.

Live scoring for the event will be available at ... The top eight teams and two individuals not on those qualifying teams will advance to the 2012 NCAA Women's Golf Championship which will be held May 22-25 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn. ... The Cowgirls have finished in the top top five in eight of their 10 starts thus far ... Four of OSU’s five starters have competed in NCAA Regional action with sophomore Amy Ruengmateekhun making her regional debut this week ... four of OSU’s five starters have posted at least one round in the 60s this year, including a school-record 64 from both Jayde Panos and Amy Ruengmateekhun.
