CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team opened its spring season with a fourth-place showing at the Hurricane Invitational on Tuesday at Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club.
With yesterday's 36-hole day suspended due to darkness, the teams returned to action this morning to conclude the event's second round before beginning the final round at the par-71, 6,018-yard layout. OSU finished with a 50-over total of 902 and four shots behind host Miami for third place. Baylor won the event with its 883 total.
Senior Kelsey Vineslogged her third victory as a Cowgirl, finishing with a 4-under 209 total to cruise to a four-shot victory. After opening with rounds of 70 and 68, the Austin, Texas native closed with an even-par 71.
During her final round, Vines opened with a birdie before posting bogeys on two of her next three holes. After carding five consecutive pars, she turned at 1-over 36. Vines' inward nine included three birdies and a double bogey to finish at even par for the day.
Vines was joined in the top 20 by juniors Jayde Panos and Josephine Janson. Panos closed with a 75 to finish tied for 16th place at 225, while Janson's 75 put her in sole possession of 19th place at 226.
Competing individually, sophomore Courtney Ferguson closed with a 74 to finish at 224 and tied for 13th place.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Feb. 11 when they travel to Palos Verdes, Calif., for the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge.
