OKLAHOMA CITY- Brianna Parnell, a junior on the Oklahoma State equestrian team, tied for fourth place at the Collegiate Reining Championships Saturday at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. Parnell scored a 212.00 total, just six points out of first place. Maggie Gratny and Alicia Daugherty tied for second with 214.50 points. Lyndsey Jordan won the event with 218.00 points. “We are extremely proud of the way Bri represented our team and the university this weekend,” head coach Larry Sanchez said. “She rode very well. We look forward to her contributions to the team next year.” The championships are hosted each year by the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA). The top 12 collegiate reiners from this past season competed for the title of 2009 Collegiate Reining Champion. The competition is part of the annual NRHA Derby, one of two major events presented by the NRHA each year in Oklahoma City. It is the Association’s premier event for the world’s best four, five and six year old reining horses, their exhibitors and their owners.
