STILLWATER- Brianna Parnell, a junior on the Oklahoma State equestrian team, will compete in the Collegiate Reining Championships Saturday at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. A native of Ridgefield, Wash., Parnell compiled a 12-6 record for the Cowgirls in the 2008-09 season, including three meet MVPs and was the Reserve Reining National Champion at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships. “Brie has more than exceeded our expectations for her this season,” head coach Larry Sanchez said. “Her performance at nationals was super and we look for her to continue that at her upcoming competition.” The Championships are hosted by the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA). The top 12 collegiate reiners will compete for the title of 2009 Collegiate Reining Champion.
