Cowgirl Equestrian At NCEA National Championships

WACO, Texas—The Oklahoma State equestrian team will take on the nation at the National Collegiate Equestrian Association National Championship, April 12-14, at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas.

About The Cowgirls

OSU is 10-4 on the season and ranked second in the nation in the latest coaches’ poll. Last time out the Pokes earned their second Big 12 Championship in four years as they defeated the Texas A&M Aggies in raw scores, 3329-3326.

National Championship Seeds

OSU enters the competition as the No. 2 seed in the western bracket and the No. 11 seed in the hunter seat bracket. The western team has a first round bye and will take on the winner of (7) Baylor vs. (10) TCU in the quarterfinals of the competition.

The hunter seat team will take on the No. 6 seed New Mexico State Aggies in the first round of the competition. Equitation on the flat begins at 8:30 Thursday morning, with fences following at 12:30 p.m.

Individual Honors

The Cowgirls have raked in the individual honors this season, including three Big 12 Riders of the Year, five All-Big 12 team members, 13 Academic All-Big 12 team members, five NCEA All-Americans and a Big 12 Championship Most Outstanding Performer in Samantha Harrison.

Most Valuable Performer

Oklahoma State has impressed the judges this year, earning 25 MVP honors on the season. They are led by Katy Ksrhka and Caroline Daniels, who have picked up five MVPs each. Jordan White leads the hunter seat team with three MVPs, all in equitation on the flat. Samantha Elser has two MVPs honors in equitation over fences. The Pokes have earned three or more MVPs in an event six times this season.



Western Superlatives

The Cowgirl western team is on a roll this season, sporting a 10-3 record. The Pokes have won seven of their last eight competitions in the discipline, including two dramatic victories at the Big 12 Championship that were won in raw scores.

Katy Krshka leads the team with 19 head-to-head victories. The freshman standout was named November Big 12 and NCEA Rider of the Month for her performances.
