ATLANTA - Oklahoma State's Andrea Riley has been named to the watch list for the 2009-10 Naismith Trophy it was announced today by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.
The distinction is the third such list Riley has appeared on this season. The Dallas, Texas native was also named to the John R. Wooden Award and State Farm Wade Trophy watch lists as well. An honorable mention preseason All-America selection by the Associated Press, Riley was named the Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday after leading OSU to a 2-0 start with wins against UALR and Georgia Tech over the weekend.
The Naismith Trophy watch list was compiled by the Atlanta Tipoff Club's Board of Selectors, which based its criteria on player performances from the previous year and expectations for the 2009-10 college basketball season. The Naismith Trophy presented by AT&T will be awarded at the 2010 NCAA Women's Final Four in San Antonio, Texas.
In late February, the Atlanta Tipoff Club's Board of Selectors will compile a mid-season team of the Top 30 players in the nation. Then in March, the Naismith Trophy voting academy will vote to narrow the list to the four finalists.
