COWGIRLS RETURN HOME TO HOST KANSAS
Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team (6-13 overall, 1-8 Big 12) will be looking to snap a three-game losing skid on Wednesday when the Kansas Jayhawks (10-10, 3-6) come to town for a 7 p.m. contest. The Cowgirls are coming off a 66-55 loss at Kansas State on Saturday, while KU is fresh off a 60-42 victory at Missouri over the weekend.
The Jayhawks snapped a two-game losing skid last Saturday with their 60-42 win over Missouri in Columbia. KU’s midweek trek to Stillwater will mark their fourth road game in the last five outings. Bonnie Henrickson is in her first season at the helm of the Jayhawk program and has led the squad to their best start since the 1999-2000 campaign. KU is led offensively by forward Crystal Kemp’s 14.1 points per game. The junior is also the squad’s top rebounder, pulling 8.5 caroms per game. Kemp is among the league’s best shooters percentage-wise, ranking fourth in the Big 12 at 53 percent. Guard Erica Hallman is the only other player averaging double figures in the scoring column at 12.1 points per game. The junior has also dished out a team-best 106 assists on the season and leads the team with 39 3-point field goals.
OSU AND KUÂTHE SERIES
The Jayhawks won last season’s matchup in Lawrence, 74-61, to snap a two-game winning streak in the series by the Cowgirls. OSU has won two consecutive home contests against KU, but has lost 10 of its 18 home games in the series and trails 26-18 overall.
