FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The fourth-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboy cross country team landed three runners in the top 10 en route to a first-place finish at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival on Saturday. The Cowgirl runners finished sixth with junior Mihaela Susa posting a 28th-place finish. The Cowboys claimed the top three spots in the 10,000-meter race with sophomore Colby Lowe edging senior John Kosgei by seven-hundredths of a second for the individual win. In his season debut, senior Ryan Vail finished a second behind Lowe and Kosgei for third place. Also in his season debut, sophomore standout German Fernandez finished in 11th place, while sophomore Johnathon Stublaski posted a 12th-place showing to round out the Cowboy scorers at the meet. OSU’s 21 team points placed were 31 points clear of second-place Oklahoma. In the 6,000-meter women’s race, Susa led the Cowgirls for the second-straight event. Her time of 21:46.87 was good for 28th place. Sophomore teammate Victoria Fratczak finished 11 seconds behind Susa in 32nd place. Melanie Funke posted a 41st-place showing, while Alyse Goldsmith finished in 50th place and Jacqueline Campos finished in 59th place to score for the Cowgirls.
